Manor Downs

Manor Downs, a Class 2 track near Austin that recently expanded its oval from four furlongs to 7 1/2, will offer five stakes during its inaugural Thoroughbred meet, which is set to run 10 days from April 27 to May 26 after receiving final approval from the Texas Racing Commission on Monday.

The track has also planned two starter series for the meet, one for sprinters, and one for route horses.

The richest stakes of the meet will be the $40,000-added Manor Downs Futurity. Trials for the 4 1/2-furlong race, which was held at Retama Park near San Antonio last year because of ongoing construction at Manor, will be held April 27. Other stakes scheduled are the $30,000 Distaff over six furlongs on April 28; the $30,000 Accredited Texas-Bred Sprint Special over five furlongs May 4; the $30,000 Miracle Mile on May 19; and the $30,000 Sprint Classic over six furlongs May 26.
