Manndar to stand for $3,500

Dual Grade 1 winner and millionaire Manndar will start his stud career in 2003 at Wintergreen Stallion Station in Midway, Ky., the farm has announced. Manndar, now 6, will stand for $3,500 (foal stands and nurses). A son of the late sire Doyoun, Manndar was bred by the Aga Khan, who also raced him early in his career.

An American partnership headed by Columbine Stable purchased Manndar and sent him to trainer Beau Greely in 1999. Manndar finished second in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby that year, then bloomed into a dual Grade 1 winner the following season with wins in both the Turf Classic and the Manhattan Handicap.

In November 2001, Manndar fractured the sesamoids in his left front ankle, an injury that required surgery.

Manndar left the track with combined earnings of $1,128,810 from a record of 20-4-6-3.
