Malibu Prayer returns in Vagrancy

Email

Malibu Prayer, who ended her 3-year-old season with a pair of stakes wins in one-turn mile races, makes her 4-year-old debut in Saturday's Grade 2, $150,000

Vagrancy Handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs.

Malibu Prayer drew post 4 in the seven-horse field, which includes Tar Heel Mom and Hour Glass, the one-two finishers in the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct on April 17. Hour Glass and Malibu Prayer are both trained by Todd Pletcher, but will run as an uncoupled entry.

Malibu Prayer won the Cat Chat here last Sept. 23 before taking the Grade 2 Chilukki at Churchill on Nov. 7.

"She went to the farm for a vacation after that, has come back, and trained very well," Pletcher said. "We're a little concerned that this is short of her best distance, but she's trained like she's ready to come back."
