California shipper Maker Or Breaker, with Israel Hernandez aboard, wins the Princess of Palms by 2 1/4 lengths.

Maker Or Breaker, an invader from Southern California who was coming out of a Grade 3 stakes at Santa Anita, took advantage of the class drop to easily capture Saturday’s $35,000 Princess of Palms at Turf Paradise.

Owned by Hal and Patti Earnhardt and trained by Dan McFarlane, the 5-year-old Maker Or Breaker was last early in seventh in the six-furlong event for fillies and mares. She steadily advanced to the far turn, pitched wide into the lane, and powered home to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths under Israel Hernandez.

Rock and Glory, another Southern California raider, stalked the pace and ran on for second, well clear of the others. Magic Lily dueled before finishing third. Makinmymark, the 9-5 favorite, dueled with Magic Lily but paid the price, fading to last..

Maker Or Breaker ran the distance in 1:08.78 and paid $6.20 as the second choice. The winner’s share of $21,266 pushes her bankroll to $221,924 from five wins in 13 starts.
