Majestic Dinner wins Governor's Buckeye

CINCINNATI - Majestic Dinner raced heavily favored Unbridled Time into defeat before going on to a two-length victory Sunday in the $75,000 Governor's Buckeye Cup at River Downs.

Unbridled Time, the D. Wayne Lukas-trained 3-year-old who was making his first start against older horses, set a relatively easy pace in the 1 1/4-mile race for Ohio-breds, but he still was unable to shake clear under Greta Kuntzweiler. Instead, Majestic Dinner, ridden by Ricardo Feliciano, took command in upper stretch to defeat 37-1 shot Recognize, with Unbridled Time third. The winner returned $9.60 as part of a Miguel Feliciano-trained entry with Fervent Affair.

Majestic Dinner, owned by Pyrite Stables, is a 4-year-old by Formal Dinner. He now has won eight of 19 starts and earned over $175,000 after finishing in 2:08 over a fast track.
