Majestic Dinner repeats in Ohio


NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Majestic Dinner became the first horse to win the Best of Ohio Endurance twice when he took the race for the second year in a row on Monday at Thistledown. The $100,000 Endurance was the centerpiece of Best of Ohio day, which featured five stakes for Ohio-breds.

Majestic Dinner made the lead after a half-mile in the 1 1/4-mile Endurance and drew off to a 1 1/4-length win over Bad Little Fellow, with Your Abc's third.

The victory was the third straight stakes score for Majestic Dinner and gave his owner Pyrite Stables and trainer Miguel Feliciano their second stakes win of the day. They had previously won the Best of Ohio Juvenile with Forest Picnic.

Majestic Dinner ($3.40) was ridden by Ricardo Feliciano, nephew of the trainer, and was timed in 2:04.52.

In the $75,000 Juvenile, Forest Picnic rallied under Scott Spieth to catch the 1-10 favorite, Hackendiffy, in late stretch and win by a half-length. Forest Picnic ($17.40) was timed in 1:45.40 for the 1 1/16 miles.

The other best of Ohio winners were Waist Gunner John ($20.60) in the Sprint, Ashwood C C ($6.40) in the Distaff, and Bolaro ($5) in the Juvenile Fillies.

The $2 payoff on the pick five on the Best of Ohio races was $8,099.20. The pick five pool was $15,676.
