A pair of sharp 2-year-olds coming off rapidly run maiden victories swept the two divisions of the National Association of Two-Year-Old Consignors Futurity at Monmouth Park. Reata's Rocket ($6.80), a five-length winner locally 19 days earlier, wired eight rivals by one length in the $209,000 first division for colts. Ridden by Chris DeCarlo for trainer Joe Orseno, Reata's Rocket covered six furlongs on a muddy track in 1:09.44. "He's a Canadian-bred so we're going to send him to Canada for a $100,000 overnight stakes there November 4," Orseno said. "We'll skip the Breeders' Cup; I don't want to stretch him out yet. Next year we'll point him to the Queen's Plate." In the $200,000 race for fillies, second choice Cat on a Cloud ($6.40) challenged pacesetter Angel Island approaching the turn and took command in the stretch to win by 4 1/2 lengths. Making her first start since winning her career debut by 4 3/4 lengths at Ellis Park three weeks earlier, Cat on a Cloud, ridden by Eddie Castro for trainer Ronny Werner, ran six furlongs in 1:09.88. Chagall, coming out of a pair of graded stakes at Saratoga, finished fifth at 6-5.
