Magna 5 pays $3,629 to 114


The Magna 5 wager returned $3,629.40 to 114 ticket-holders on Saturday, the lowest payoff in the four weeks the bet has been offered this year. The bet was made easier on Saturday with favorites winning three of the five legs.

The $2 bet links five races run at tracks owned by Magna Entertainment Corp. Saturday, the five races were run within approximately 45 minutes.

Saturday's winners were China Gold ($8) in an allowance race at Laurel, La Dolce Vita ($11.60) in an allowance race at Gulfstream Park, Spectacular Bay ($12.20) in a claiming race at Santa Anita, Angels Awaiting ($3) in a maiden claiming race at Golden Gate Fields, and Smokey Glacken ($4.60) in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie Handicap at Gulfstream Park.

China Gold, Angels Awaiting and Smokey Glacken were favored.

Saturday's Magna 5 had a pool of $530,454, the second-highest of the year and a figure that exceeded the $500,000 guaranteed by Magna.
