Magna 5 pays $29,776

Speightstown, who easily captured the Artax Handicap at Gulfstream Park, was the only favorite among the winning horses in Saturday's Magna 5, which paid $29,776.

Speightstown was narrowly favored over runner-up Pretty Wild, and returned $8.40 for his wire-to wire victory in the Artax. Boomzeeboom was the shortest-priced winner in the Magna 5 sequence, paying $5.40. But Boomzeeboom was the second choice in the wagering behind 6-5 favorite Minister Eric in Saturday's sixth race at Santa Anita.

Rousing Again ($11.80) at Laurel, Laura's Luck Boy ($20.60) at Santa Anita, and True Dancer ($11) at Golden Gate Fields rounded out the winning 4-8-2-4-7 ticket, which was correctly selected by 15 bettors.

The total pool for Saturday's Magna 5 was $572,618, up nearly $86,000 over the previous week when the $500,000-guaranteed pool was not reached for the second time since the wager was inaugurated on Jan. 31.
