Magna 5 pays $1,074 in finale

On a day dominated by low-priced winners, Saturday's $2 Magna 5 pick five wager returned its lowest payout, $1,074.20, to 380 ticket-holders.

The winners were Water Cannon ($7.60) in the Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico, Victory Girl ($3.40) in the fifth race at Santa Anita, Adreamisborn ($8) in the fifth at Bay Meadows, Royal Teresa ($4.60) in the sixth at Santa Anita, and Janeian ($8.40) in the Irving Distaff Stakes at Lone Star Park.

Victory Girl and Royal Teresa were favored. In the fourth leg, Letra de Cambio was a late scratch, and bettors with her on their tickets got Royal Teresa.

The Magna 5 was offered Saturday for the final time this spring. Launched in January, the weekly five-race bet entailed picking the winners of races at tracks owned by Magna Entertainment Corp. Saturday's handle of $522,730 surpassed the $500,000 minimum pool guaranteed by Magna.

The bet began Jan. 31, and payoffs ranged from a high of $205,703 on Feb. 28 to Saturday's low.
