Magna 5 among snowstorm's casualties


Citing a snowstorm expected to drop more than a foot of snow on the region, Laurel Park has canceled its Friday and Saturday cards. The Magna 5, scheduled for Saturday, also has been canceled.

Saturday's $70,000 Marshua Stakes will now be run on Monday, Feb. 15, as part of a card that is headlined by the Grade 2 General George Handicap.

Two other Mid-Atlantic tracks - Penn National and Charles Town, also called off their Friday night and Saturday night cards. Penn National plans to bring back Saturday's program on Thursday.

Philadelphia Park canceled its Saturday program and will bring back that card on Tuesday.

Beulah Park canceled its Friday and Saturday programs in anticipation of three to six inches of snow in the Columbus, Ohio, region. Beulah Park plans to ask the Ohio Racing Commission to make up the lost days on the Fridays of March 12 and 19.
