After its successful four days of selected sessions concluded on Saturday, the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale continued the positive momentum with its fifth session on Sunday at the Magic Millions Sales Complex in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Magic Millions reported 161 yearlings sold on Sunday for $7,862,050, a 7 percent increase compared with the fifth session in 2012 when 177 horses sold. The average price of $48,832 jumped 18 percent, and the median spiked 25 percent to $42,136. The buyback rate for the fifth session rose slightly, from 22 percent in 2012 to 23 percent this year.
A chestnut colt by young Glenlogan Stud stallion Real Saga topped the session at $252,816 ($240,000 Australian), being purchased by RMA Bloodstock. Consigned by Widden Stud, agent, the colt is out of the winning Strategic mare Maxy Legs and is from the family of New Zealand champion Keeninsky, Group 2 winner So Keen, and Group 1-placed stakes winner Passakiss.
After a dark day on Monday, the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale will conclude on Tuesday with a short sixth and final session.
