Mad About You starting year at Curragh

Mad About You embarks on what her trainer, Dermot Weld, hopes will be a lucrative 4-year-old campaign at the Curragh on Sunday when she takes on seven rivals in the Group 3, $123,000 Park Express Stakes on the first day of the Irish flat racing season.

By Indian Ridge out of 1 1/2-mile Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Irresistible Jewel, Mad About You was last seen at Naas on Oct. 12 when she beat 17 foes in the one-mile listed Garnet Stakes. Earlier, she had been promoted to second in Halfway to Heaven's Irish 1000 Guineas before another second-place finish in the 1 1/4-mile Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes against older fillies and mares. Pat Smullen has the ride.

Prima Luce, winless in six starts since taking the Group 3 Athasi Stakes last May, will be sent out by Jim Bolger. Listed winner Beach Bunny is a threat on the prevailing soft ground, as will be the Bolger-trained Oh Goodness Me, a twice listed placed daughter of Galileo who as a 3-year-old will receive 15 to 18 pounds on the scale from her elders.

Not to be overlooked is the Weld-trained 3-year-old Firey Red, a Pivotal filly who beat Coolmore's classic hopeful colt Born to Be King in her maiden debut in July.
