Macias a stakes winner on two surfaces

ARCADIA, Calif. - Macias won his second stakes, and first on turf, in Monday's $72,150 Eddie Logan Stakes at Santa Anita.

Macias ran a mile on turf in 1:35.11, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Alfarabi, the 3-2 favorite who rallied from last in the field of eight. Thomas Baines finished third, 2 3-4 lengths behind the winner.

Macias ($7.40) stalked pacesetter Lucks Mine through early fractions of 23.2 and 46.81 seconds and took the lead in early stretch.

Trained by Bob Baffert for Zayat Stables, Macias has won 3 of 5 starts and $117,117. He won the Jack Goodman Stakes at six furlongs on the main track in October in his stakes debut.
