Under a confident ride by Isaias Enriquez, Mach One Rules won the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic at Emerald Downs on Sunday. He paid $3.80 as the 4-5 favorite in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up. Rocco Bowen, aboard the third-place finisher Mike Man’s Gold, lodged an objection against the winner for making contact with Mike Man’s Gold going down the backstretch. The stewards ruled the contact was caused by both horses and let the result stand. The Classic was one of six $50,000 stakes races for horses bred or sired in Washington that made up the bulk of the Washington Cup Day Card. Mach One Rules broke alertly and sat just off Dedicated to You, who set interior fractions of 23.06 and 46.00 seconds. With Enriquez looking around for challengers, Mach One Rules took control of the race at the top of the stretch. Dedicated to You fought back gamely, but Mach One Rules asserted himself in the late stages to win by 1 1/4 lengths. Mike Man’s Gold rallied from the middle of the track to finish a head behind Dedicated to You. The final time was 1:42.21. It was the third stakes win for Mach One Rules since Enriquez took over as his rider in his second start at the meet. He went into the Classic off of a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Longacres Mile on Aug. 13. “He’s a real nice horse,” said Enriquez. “You have to get to know them, and I’ve spent a lot of time with him. He really trusts me and relaxes for me.” “Mach One Rules has had a good year,” said trainer Frank Lucarelli. “He’s an easy horse to be around and he makes a trainer look good. “ Lucarelli also won the Sophomore Filly Stakes with Grace Bay, who paid $10.60 for her 8 1/4-length romp in the one-mile race. She was ridden by Kevin Orozco. Leading trainer Blaine Wright had a huge day, sweeping half of the stakes. Bella Mia started off the hat trick with a front-running victory in the Juvenile Filly Stakes. She was ridden by Julien Couton and paid $2.40 for her one-length win over Frisky Bear in the six-furlong dash. Wright won the Sophomore Stakes with Pulpits Power, and the Filly and Mare Stakes with Exit City Slew. Pulpits Power, also ridden by Couton, paid $9.60 for his victory over Keller’s Gold in the one-mile race for 3-year-olds. Rocco Bowen was aboard Exit City Slew for her upset win over the 1-5 favorite Citizen Kitty in the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares. The 4-year-old daughter of Abraaj paid $10.60. Citizen Kitty had to steady at the seven-sixteenths pole when Sweet Tashi took a bad step and was pulled up. Bowen also guided Sippin Fire to a 5 1/2-length romp over Elliott Bay in the Juvenile Colts and Geldings Stakes for trainer Steve Bullock. He paid $5.00 and posted a fast final time of 1:09.47 for six furlongs. “He never really leveled out so I don’t know if he was scary good or scary bad,” said Bowen.
