ARCADIA, Calif. - Lundy's Liability's first start of 2005 was postponed twice, but eventually was worth the wait.

After being scratched from the San Gabriel Handicap on Jan. 1 and the San Pasqual Handicap on Jan. 8 because of sloppy tracks, Lundy's Liability recorded his fourth career stakes win in Sunday's $250,000 at Santa Anita.

Ridden by David Flores, Lundy's Liability ($8.20) fought through the length of the stretch before putting away the stubborn frontrunner Truly a Judge. Lundy's Liability finished 1 1-8 miles in 1:49.05, scoring by 1 1-2 lengths.

Truly a Judge, who won the San Gabriel Handicap, finished a length in front of Congrats, the winner of the San Pasqual Handicap.

The first three finishers were always near the pace. Truly a Judge set fractions of 23.32 and 47.12 seconds, leading by a length. Lundy's Liability moved closer along the rail on the final turn, cutting the Truly a Judge's margin to a half-length. The two were side-by-side entering the stretch and dueled until the final furlong when Lundy's Liability pulled away.

Congrats, fourth early, failed to make up any ground in the stretch.

Lundy's Liability races for Stud TNT and Mary Slack and is trained by Bobby Frankel. A 5-year-old, Lundy's Liability has won 5 of 8 starts and $1,703,930.

The bulk of his earnings came from a win in the $2 million UAE Derby last March. He joined Frankel's stable last spring and won the Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap here in October in his U.S. debut.
