Lovesablumin looks to win Orphan Kist – again

Lovesablumin, second here on opening weekend, will defend her title in the $25,000 Orphan Kist Stakes for Nebraska-bred fillies and mares at Fonner Park.

Lovesablumin faces six others in the six-furlong Orphan Kist. She won this race a year ago while making her second start of 2007 but went on the shelf a month later after finishing fourth in the Runza Stakes.

Her return to action on opening weekend here came in the half-mile Bold Accent, where she finished a head behind the recently retired Heres a Memory. Lovesablumin has won 5 of her 10 starts and would be a deserving favorite in this spot. Larren Delorme will be aboard for trainer Terrell Hemmer.

Plaer's Trump makes her season debut in the Orphan Kist after winning 4 of her 5 starts as a 3-year-old last year, all in stakes company. Her lone off-the-board finish came in her only start against older company, in last year's Matchmaker Stakes at Lincoln.

Plaer's Trump won the Fonner Park Special for fillies in her season bow last year and followed with a win in the Princess Stakes at Lincoln. She then won the Fantango Lady at Horsemen's Park and closed out the year winning the Columbus Breeders' Special at Columbus in August.

Trainer Marv Johnson will send out the coupled entry of Real Battleaxe and I Talk. Real Battleaxe was third, a head behind Lovesablumin, in the Bold Accent when making her first start of the year two weeks ago.
