Lovesablumin looks good in Bluegrasss

Lovesablumin is the one to beat when five fillies and mares meet in the $15,000 Bluegrass Stakes going six furlongs at Lincoln.

Lovesablumin has made four starts this year, all at Fonner Park, and has won two stakes for trainer Terrell Hemmer. She won the Orphan Kist Stakes against statebreds and the Runza Stakes going six furlongs, the same distance as the Bluegrass. She tuned up for this race last Monday prior to the first race, breezing three furlongs in 36 seconds with rider Beth Butler aboard.

A daughter of Blumin Affair, Lovesablumin has compiled a career mark of 7-3-0 from 13 starts and would slip past $100,000 in career earnings with a win.

Plaer's Trump should pose the main obstacle for the top pick as she seeks her first win of the year. Trainer Herb Riecken has been patiently bringing along his 4-year-old daughter of Shawklit Player, who owns a career mark of 6 wins from 10 starts. She was second to Lovesablumin in her first start of the year, the Orphan Kist Stakes, then failed to rally after being difficult at the gate in the Swihart Stakes.

Riecken will also send out Magic Trump. A 9-year-old mare, she will be making her first start of the season.
