Love Ridge, ridden by Jose Ferrer, earns her first career stakes victory in the Roanoke for Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-old fillies.

Love Ridge, dropping from facing older horses in open company to face fellow Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-old fillies for the first time, used her early speed to dominate Friday’s $75,000 Roanoke Stakes at Philadelphia Park.
Ridden by Jose Ferrer for trainer Dee Curry, Love Ridge broke on top in the six-furlong sprint and cruised to an 8 1/4-length victory over Lovabull Me, the 6-5 favorite. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to Hygh Jacque. The winning time was 1:10.91.
Love Ridge has spent most of her 13-race career running for a claiming tag or in starter allowance company. In fact, she was taken for $12,500 out of her career debut last October. She has now won 2 of her last 3 starts to improve her career record to 3 for 13.
