Love Locket rolls in Blue Hen

Love Locket was too much for her rivals to handle Saturday, as she easily turned back a challenge from 14-1 Stylish Yankee and pulled away to a 3 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 Blue Hen Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Delaware Park.

Ridden by Chris DeCarlo on a sloppy track, Love Locket made her way to the front in the 1 1/16-mile Blue Hen and was tracked closely by Stylish Yankee through fractions of 23.07 and 47.91 seconds. Stylish Yankee made a move nearing the far turn and put her head in front at one point, but Love Locket quickly retook the lead and entered the stretch with a length advantage. After that the only race was for second, with Stylish Yankee drifting wide but holding on by a nose over She's Indy Money. Loosends was fourth.

Love Locket, trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by Michael Tabor, paid $6 as the favorite and covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:47.37. The win boosts Love Locket's record to 3 for 4, with the only loss coming in her sprint debut at Saratoga.
