'Love' drops a bomb on Gowell Stakes

Timeless Love, a 29-1 shot, drew clear entering the stretch, then barely lasted to defeat Bo's Sister by a nose Saturday in the $48,000 Gowell Stakes at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Timeless Love was ridden by Greta Kuntzweiler, who urged the Gilded Time filly to an open lead after turning for home in the six-furlong Gowell. The move paid off, as a torrid late run by Bo's Sister, a 5-1 shot, fell short by the narrowest of margins.

The winner paid $61.80 after finishing in 1:11.02 over a fast track. The 9-7 exacta paid $420.60.

Iffy finished third, another 1 1/4 lengths back, in a field of 12 2-year-old fillies. Born to Dance, the 5-2 favorite, was never a factor when finishing eighth.

The victory for Timeless Love, who previously had won just once in five tries, represented a great Christmas present for the Bradley family of Frankfort, Ky. The filly's owner is Fred Bradley, whose son, William "Buff" Bradley, is the trainer.
