Louisville simulcast site loses power

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A lightning strike left the Trackside simulcast annex in Louisville, Ky., without power Sunday, forcing Churchill Downs officials to cancel simulcasting for the entire day and leaving out-of-town visitors with winning mutuel tickets from Kentucky Derby weekend looking for alternative ways to cash those winners.

While Churchill is closed for racing on the Sunday after Derby, the track opens Trackside for the convenience of fans who do not want to stand in long lines to cash winning tickets after the Derby on Saturday. Churchill apologized for the inconvenience and said fans with winning tickets to cash will be admitted free throughout the coming race week, Thursday through Sunday.
