Louisville man gets $10,000 crack at Pick 6

Ron Profumo, a 50-year-old middle school counselor from Louisville, KY, had luck on his side Wednesday when his name was drawn as the grand prize winner in the Daily Racing Form Breeders' Cup Ultra Pick 6 Sweepstakes. Profumo will receive $10,000 in bets to play the $3,000,000 Guaranteed Breeders' Cup Ultra Pick 6 on Saturday.

Recovering from recent surgery, Profumo will not be able to attend this year's Breeders' Cup at Belmont Park and will instead place his bets at his home track, Churchill Downs. Profumo will receive his trip to the Breeders' Cup next year, when Daily Racing Form will book the winner to attend the 2002 Breeders' Cup at Arlington Park.

A longtime fan of racing, Profumo's Internet-submitted entry was drawn from more than 4,000 entries received via mail, fax and Internet.

The four runner-up winners of $500 betting vouchers were Nobby Kamitakahara of Toronto, ONT, David Tarmino of Rochester, NY, Brian Deeley of Philadelphia, PA and Mike Marsenic of Toronto, ONT.
