Louisiana: Entry looks solid

Email

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Sweet and Firm, who had the misfortune of chasing the sensational Hallowed Dreams home in her last two starts at Lone Star, should find the company much more to her liking at Louisiana Downs in the Suthern Accent Stakes. The six-furlong dash drew a field of five and will be worth $40,000.

Sweet and Firm, owned by K. K. and Vilsini Jayaraman and trained by Cole Norman, will be coupled in the wagering with Lady Virginia, who sports the same connections. The entry will draw the majority of the betting public's attention.

Prior to her second-place performances in both the Miller Lite Stakes and the Valid Expectations, Sweet and Firm had a tidy three-race win streak, all in allowance company that dated back to Oaklawn in the spring. Regular rider David Nuesch will once again be aboard at 119 pounds.

Unique Creek returns to her favorite surface after an unsuccessful effort over the Lone Star turf. She put a win and a second-place finish together in back-to-back allowance races on the main in Dallas and looks to repeat that success in the Suthern Accent. She will be ridden by Buck Harris and carry 115 pounds.
