Louisiana Downs super pick five jackpot hit for $889K

Email

The super pick five jackpot at Louisiana Downs was hit on Friday, paying $889,726. The jackpot only pays out if there is a single ticket with five winners.

The wager, which runs on the final five races on the program, had last been solved on June 27.

There was an $810,339 carryover into the card, and another $105,848 was bet into the pool Friday, said Trent McIntosh, director of racing operations for Louisiana Downs.

“It was great to have a pool that size for the time that it lasted, and some lucky guy just made a life-changing bet,” said McIntosh.

Officials on Friday were working to determine the site at which the winning ticket was purchased.

The bet has a 50-cent minimum. There were three triple-digit winners during the sequence on Friday, including a $72 horse in the eighth race. The bet ran on the sixth through 10th races. The winning combination was 2-9-6-11-5.

The winning horses and payoffs were Fatty Langbein($4) in the sixth; It Is the Way ($7) in the seventh; Michael’s Gabriel ($72.40) in the eighth; Chicola ($26.40) in the ninth; and Lydgate’s Twinkle ($23) in the 10th.

I was surprised the PK 4 paid 3 out of 4...I was paying attention the entire card...didn't even come close but did cash on Chicola WIN EX & TRI he was being bet was all the way down to 3-1 at one point then ballooned up to 12-1...its funny how your handicapping goes out the window when you catch something like that, trying to figure out what the hell everyone else sees that you are missing.

They haven't posted the pk 5 will pays since that ticket was supposedly bought at 8am at arlington a couple of weeks ago.Now that the pool is gone that is a good reason to not bet it any more.

I hope the jockeys are getting their cut from whatever group is paying them to fix all those races. It's pretty comical there most days this year. They aren't nearly as good at making it look legit like some of the top guys on the East coast. sad though because louisiana downs was a real race track for a while. now it is just another louisiana bush track with criminals on the horses and criminals running the backstretch. can't imagine it lasting long like this but i guess it could.

Don't know what handicapping product you use, but all except for the $72 horse were very playable. As for the $72 horse, he was a 3rd start maiden dropping into a claimer and changing surfaces. No problem using that type of horse on a spread ticket, which was probably the case. Instead of sour grapes, try congratulating the guy who had the winning ticket.

Sore loser and an ignorant mindset equals your "statement".....stick to welfare and food stamps. You wouldn't know a "fixed" race if it kicked you!
