Louisiana Downs: Norman pair tough

Fillies trained by Cole Norman have been quite effective in stakes this meet at Louisiana Downs, and he will send out another capable pair in Elliecat and My Silver Charm in the $50,000 Dixie Miss.

The six-furlong race is for 3-year-old fillies and it drew seven, including stakes winner Jb's Golden Regret and the stakes-placed Shimmering Sunset.

Norman, who has won two stakes for fillies this meet from his four stakes starters, will saddle Elliecat and My Silver Charm for separate interests. Elliecat is making her stakes debut and My Silver Charm is returning to stakes competition. They each finished second in separate allowance races June 15.

"They both had a good work over the weekend and came out of the work good, and I look for both of them to be real tough on Saturday," said Norman.

Elliecat is returning to six furlongs, the distance over which she won a pair of allowances this spring. My Silver Charm is stakes-placed and a half-sister to multiple stakes winner V Formation. Jamie Theriot will ride Elliecat, while Carlos Gonzalez has the mount on My Silver Charm.

Elliecat owns the field's best Beyer Figure, a 95, for an allowance win in May.
