Louisiana Downs: Humble Danzig romps

Humble Danzig, second in the Kentucky Cup Juvenile in her previous start, put her substantial class edge to good use, easily winning the $25,000 Lady Razorback Futurity by 10 lengths. Fellow Kentucky invader Princess Pamela finished second, followed by Magical Miss.

Bred, owned, and trained by James Danaher and ridden by the hottest jockey on the grounds, Gerard Melancon, Humble Danzig ($3.20) stalked the early pace set by the runner-up before moving to the fore at will midway on the turn. Melancon wrapped up down the lane en route to a final time of 1:11.49 for six furlongs.

In the colt-and-gelding division of the Razorback, William Robert Ward's East Texas Sam ($12.60) broke on top and left 13 rivals in his wake to win by four lengths under steady handling by Mike Talerico. Snowball King overcame a rough start to finish second with My Good Trick reporting home third.
