Jockey Richard Eramia, a five-time title winner in his native Uruguay, won his 1,000th race in North America on Friday at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La. Eramia reached the milestone in the sixth race, when he guided Platinum Song to a seven-length win in an allowance for 2-year-old fillies. She paid $4.

Eramia, who is the regular rider of Breeders' Cup Sprint candidate Gantry, won his first North American race at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 22, 2005. He came to the United States 10 years after launching his career in Uruguay. Eramia has had just over 6,900 mounts in North America, and they have earned $19 million. His first title in this country came last year at Louisiana Downs.
