Louisiana Downs: 'Ahead' avoids DQ

Email

Ahead of Her Time survived a stewards' inquiry and picked up her first stakes win in the $50,000 Princess Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

Ramblin Sally crossed the wire in second, followed by Mom's Delight and Stormin Quality.

Racing well back in the early going of the six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies under jockey Luis Quinonez, Ahead of Her Time ($5.40) was asked for some run midway on the turn. The winner angled out sharply for room entering the stretch and appeared to cut off fellow Jerry Hardin trainee Kristi's Add On before drawing clear in the late going to finish 3 1/4 lengths in front. Following a lengthy deliberation, the stewards elected to let the results stand.

Ahead of Her Time covered the six furlongs in 1:11.57 over a fast track and won for the second time in as many starts. She picked up $30,000 for owners Hardin and Dwight Fugate.
