Lost in the Fog headed at Churchill

Lost in the Fog, last year's Eclipse sprint champion, will make his next start at Churchill Downs in the Grade 3, $150,000 Aristides Breeders' Cup on June 3.

Run at six furlongs, the Aristides will give Lost in the Fog a race over the track where the Breeders' Cup will be run this year.

"That has something to do with it," said trainer Greg Gilchrist when asked if this played into his decision.

Gilchrist and owner Harry Aleo had also been considering the five-furlong, $100,000 Beck Auto Group Turf Stakes at Lone Star Park on May 29.

"I was concerned about the heat in Texas and the fact he's never run on the turf," Gilchrist said.

Lost in the Fog will be accompanied to Churchill by stablemate Victorina, who will run in the Grade 3, $150,000 Dogwood Breeders' Cup at one mile. The winner of the $112,000 Meafara at Hawthorne on April 8, Victorina is Breeders' Cup eligible.

Gilchrist said he had planned to rest Victorina after she ran second in a May 10 allowance race at Bay Meadows, but he said he decided to keep her in training because she came out of that race so well. Gilchrist also said he was looking for a spot to which he could ship both of his runners.
