Lord of the Game (inside) wins the Grade 2, $300,000 Cornhusker Breeders' Cup Handicap at Prairie Meadows on Saturday.

Lord of the Game ($4.40) scored a game head victory from between rivals in a blanket finish that saw the first six finishers separated by just 1 1/4 lengths in Saturday's Grade 2, $300,000 at Prairie Meadows.

Under Eusebio Razo Jr., Lord of the Game dueled with Mambo Train around the final turn in the 1 1/8-mile Cornhusker. Tricky Mocha rallied from last and appeared to stick his nose in front just before the wire. It was Lord of the Game who had his head down at the wire, though, with Tricky Mocha second, a nose in front of Mambo Train, who was a head in front of Habaneros. Lord of the Game finished in 1:49.04.

Lord of the Game was claimed out of his winning debut for $10,000 on Dec. 31 of last year by his current connections, owners 2 Blondes Inc. and trainer Tom Tomillo.

In the $125,000 Iowa Distaff Breeders' Cup, Platinum Ballet ($12.40) rallied from well off the pace and drew clear in the final sixteenth to score a 1 1/2-length victory over Josh's Madelyn. Ridden by Perry Compton for trainer Donnie K. Hemel, Platinum Ballet ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.76. Ide Be a Lady was 1 3/4 lengths back in third, while the 6-5 favorite, Casual Attitude, passed tired rivals for fourth.
