ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Longshot Bachelor Blues make all the running under Todd Kabel in the Grade 2 for 2-year-olds at Woodbine Sunday.

Bachelor Blues set uncontested fractions of :23.45 and :46.26, while being stalked by Grand Heritage and Bon Marie, in the one-mile turf event. He opened up a clear lead in the stretch, where he appeared to loaf, but was able to hold off a charging Victory Light to prevail by a neck. Commendation finished third, but was disqualified and placed 10th for interfering with favored Dynafire and Zakocity on the turn. The final time was 1:34.95.

"We wanted to get him to rate," said Kabel, "but he showed he was the speed. I just had to get him to relax as much as I could. He's been known to loaf, and his head came up, and he started to run sideways with me down the lane, but he got the job done."

Bachelor Blues returned $27.50, while notching his first stakes for owner William Schettine and trainer Josie Carroll. He earned $171,300 of the $285,500 purse.
