Lone Star replaces its GM

Magna Entertainment has replaced Jeff Greco, its vice president and general manager at Lone Star Park, with Drew Shubeck.

Shubeck, 44, comes to Lone Star from one of its sister organizations. He had been the general manager of the MEC Pennsylvania Racing at The Meadows since 2002. Before that post, Shubeck served for seven years as an associate general manager for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, where he was responsible for Monmouth Park and The Meadowlands. He is a former horse owner and trainer and is a native of New Jersey. He will have the same title at Lone Star that Greco held.

Don Amos, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Magna, said Shubeck's experience in competitive gaming markets, including facing slots competition from West Virginia while in Pennsylvania, is one of the reasons he was a good fit for Lone Star.

Magna has been lobbying to bring slots to Texas, which is surrounded by states with slots, including Louisiana and New Mexico.
