Lone Star Park: My Star Runner adds blinkers for allowance sprint

Email

My Star Runner, a four-time stakes winner, will add blinkers Thursday night when he runs in the featured fourth race. The 5 1/2-furlong allowance for 3-year-olds and up drew a field of five horses, including Gold Element and Deliverer, who finished one-two last month in the $50,000 Premiere on opening night at Lone Star.

My Star Runner enters off a second-place finish in the $50,000 Route 66 at Will Rogers Downs on April 9. He was edged late in the six-furlong race, beaten three-quarters of a length as the favorite.

“We’re putting blinkers on,” said Cody Autrey, who trains My Star Runner for Charles Fletcher. “He seems to be making the lead so easy and losing focus. Hopefully, the blinkers will keep him a little more focused.”

Jose Medina has the mount on My Star Runner, who will be making his first start at Lone Star after breezing three furlongs in a bullet 34.80 seconds here Sunday.
