Lone Star Park: Cougar Hollow seeks cleaner trip in turf feature

A clean trip might be all Cougar Hollow needs to win Saturday’s featured seventh race at Lone Star Park. He is part of a nine-horse field in the first-level allowance for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on turf.

Also set to start is Stop Talking, a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Summer Colony who won his maiden at Lone Star on May 3.

Cougar Hollow last raced on May 19, and had a troubled trip in an allowance at 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. He raced next to last early on, then launched a bid on the final turn but was forced to check abruptly. Cougar Hollow was able to restart after losing his momentum, only to be hung five wide into the stretch. He still managed to close from sixth for third, beaten 1 3/4 lengths.

Cougar Hollow will break from post 3. Luis Quinonez has the mount for John Synowsky and trainer Danny Pish.

C’Em Blazin is returning to the allowance ranks after finishing third as the favorite in a $15,000 conditioned claiming race at Lone Star on May 20. He can be closer to the pace than he found himself in that race, when he broke last in a field of 12. Jose Medina has the mount for trainer Joyce Salisbury.
