Lone Star hosts 2-year-old sale


Lone Star Park near Dallas will host the Fasig-Tipton Texas auction of 2-year-olds-in-training on Tuesday. There are 223 young horses cataloged to the sale, which will begin at 10 a.m. Central. The workout portion of the auction will be held Sunday morning at Lone Star.

The 2-year-olds on offer include a half-brother to millionaire Candid Glen by Sky Mesa; a half-sister to Illinois Derby winner Recapturetheglory by Purge; a Cuvee colt out of the multiple Grade 3-winning mare Belle of Cozzene; a Rockport Harbor colt out of multiple stakes winner I'm Allthat; and a Fusaichi Pegasus colt out of a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Magna Graduate.

Other stallions represented in the sale include Bellamy Road, Birdstone, Forestry, Speightstown, Tiznow, and Valid Expectations.

Consignors include Cash Asmussen, Diamond D Ranch, Larry Dyson, Inside Move, Inc., Pike Racing, River Oaks Farm, and Twin Oaks Training Center.

During the corresponding sale a year ago, 144 lots sold for an average of $17,201.

The sale is sponsored by the Texas Thoroughbred Association.

* Lone Star will open its 60-date meet on April 8.
