Live In Joy heads to Broughton Farm in Texas

Email

Live in Joy, a stakes-winner, has been retired from racing, and will stand at Broughton Farm in Odessa, Texas, for the 2018 breeding season for an advertised fee of $1,500.

The 9-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy is also advertised with a $500 discount for Texas-bred mares. Ten percent of stud fees paid will be put in a trust fund for any foal bred on the farm toward future aftercare and retirement expenses.

Live in Joy retired with 12 wins in 56 starts over eight seasons of racing for earnings of $329,916. He won the listed Capital City Stakes at Penn National at age 3, and finished second in the listed J. Kenneth Self Shelby County Boys and Girls Club Stakes at Indiana Downs during a later campaign.

Steve Klesaris most recently co-owned and trained Live in Joy in partnership with Richard Burnsworth. He spent the bulk of his career under the shedrow of Mike Maker running as a homebred for Ken and Sarah Ramsey.

Live in Joy is out of the unraced Our Emblem mare Live in Freedom, whose three foals to race are all winners. He is from the family of Grade 3 winner Lady Roberta, Irish Group 3 winners Tursanah and Gossamer Seed, and Spanish champion Adjuge.
