Little Red Eagle fast and consistent

AUBURN, Wash. - Little Red Eagle will head a field of six 3-year-olds, each eligible to be claimed for $17,500, in Saturday's 6 1/2-furlong feature at Emerald Downs.

Little Red Eagle, trained by Blaine Wright, has been racing in extremely sharp form at this meeting. He opened with back-to-back wins over $12,500 and $17,500 rivals. In his most recent outing on July 6, Little Red Eagle ran second, beaten 3 1/4 lengths by Emancipated, in a six-furlong sprint for $20,000 claimers run in 1:09.20.

Little Red Eagle, who runs on or near the lead, is likely to face an early challenge from Bluffed Ya. The Vince Gibson-trained Bluffed Ya is coming off an impressive 3 1/4-length win over $7,500 foes on July 17, when he got 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17.20. Bluffed Ya will again benefit from the seven-pound apprentice allowance of hot-riding Matt Hagerty, who has the mount at 111 pounds.

Leading trainer Tim McCanna will send out both Box and Won and Ice Cube. Box and Won, a son of Fuchiachi Pegasus, graduated on the maiden $30,000 level here on April 19, but he has been sidelined since running a distant seventh to $40,000 optional claimers on June 1. Ice Cube, who was stakes-placed here last year at 2, is also returning from a rest after posting a pair of fifth-place finishes against $40,000 claimers and optional claimers early in the meet.
