Little Alexis will start next in Parx Racing's Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes on Sept. 20.

Gulfstream Park-based owner-trainer Carlo Vaccarezza said he intends to send Little Alexis to Parx Racing near Philadelphia for her next start in the $1 million Cotillion Stakes, a Grade 1 race Sept. 20 that is expected to draw divisional leader Untapable and other top fillies such as Sweet Reason and My Miss Sophia.

Little Alexis closed stoutly to barely miss second at 25-1 when beaten just a length by the victorious Sweet Reason in her last start, the Grade 1 Test on Aug. 2 at Saratoga. The Mr. Greeley filly was making just her third career start and earned a career-high 91 Beyer Speed Figure.

“I thought she ran absolutely huge in the Test,” said Vaccarezza. “She overcame some things and probably should’ve been second, but that’s racing, you know. She’s back here with me at Gulfstream and doing great. I’ll probably breeze her sometime next week.”

Vaccarezza said he has a trainer’s license in Pennsylvania and that the filly will run in his name. Donna Green was listed as program trainer for the Test because Vaccarezza is not licensed in New York.

Great choice of riding jockey Jose Lezcano in The Test. Hope he gets to ride the filly again. One of the most skilled riders in the nation.

This will be a good day of racing. A track you can handicap, not guess like DelMar.
