Lisa's Kitten fine after traffic jam

Lisa's Kitten is set for the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 6 after getting through traffic for a one-length win in the $100,000 La Senorita on Saturday night at Retama Park. She closed from well back for a Beyer Speed Figure of 73.

"She gave us a scare when she got in some trouble," said Mike Maker, who trains Lisa's Kitten for Ken and Sarah Ramsey. "To overcome it and finish the way that she did, I was very happy."

Maker said Leparoux, who was aboard Lisa's Kitten, has the mount in the Breeders' Cup.

Lisa's Kitten and stablemate Kera's Kitten were to fly out of Dallas on Wednesday.

Kera's Kitten is headed to the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf on Nov. 7 after he remained undefeated in two starts in the $100,000 El Joven Saturday at Retama. He invaded from Kentucky for the one-mile race and after dueling on soft turf early romped home by five lengths. For the effort, Kera's Kitten earned a Beyer Figure of 75.

"He couldn't have been more impressive," said Maker.

Maker said Rajiv Maragh will ride Kera's Kitten in the Breeders' Cup. Julien Leparoux, who had been aboard the horse at Retama, has another mount in the Juvenile Turf for the Ramseys, the Wesley Ward-trained Becky's Kitten.

Five pre-entered

Maker said he pre-entered a total of five horses for Breeders' Cup races, all owned by the Ramseys. For the Juvenile Turf he also has Dean's Kitten, the winner of the $68,000 Vision at Belmont Park. The horse is to be ridden by Ramon Dominguez.

William's Kitten, who last month won the $150,000 Sunday Silence at Louisiana Downs, was pre-entered in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Dominguez also has the mount. Maker's other Breeders' Cup representative will be Grade 2 Kentucky Cup Classic winner Furthest Land, who is being pointed for the $1 million Dirt Mile.

Maker is in the midst of the best year of his career, with 135 wins and $3.4 million in stable earnings through Tuesday.
