Linda's Lace wins Frances Slocum at Hoosier

Linda's Lace came from the back of the pack early to win the $70,000 Frances Slocum at Hoosier Park on Saturday.

Owned and trained by Bob Zahl, Linda's Lace ($22) won the Frances Slocum last season but had won only once since then.

Jockey Rafael Hernandez took a hold of the 6-year-old Linda's Lace and kept her on the outside, away from trouble early. On the backstretch, he nudged Linda's Lace and she responded, chasing pacesetting Brean Can on the turn and into the stretch. She finally wore her down, winning the 1 1/16-mile race by 1 1/4 lengths. The winning time over a track rated good was 1:44.60.

Brean Can settled for second, 1 1/2 lengths in front of heavily favored Trust N Seven.
