Lincoln: Two competitive fillies

Jim Linscott
The filly Dress Right, a winner of three straight, is the likely favorite for the Breeders' Special at Lincoln.

Dress Right is riding a streak of three straight wins while My Hobby has been running well in routes against male competition, setting the stage for a showdown in the $20,000-added Breeders' Special for 3-year-old Nebraska-bred fillies at Nebraska State Fair Park in Lincoln.

Trainer Marv Johnson ships in Dress Right off a nonwinners-of-three allowance win at Canterbury Park. Dress Right captured the Fonner Park Special Stakes for fillies this spring and is a likely favorite. She will race as part of an uncoupled entry for Johnson with Confident Consumer. Dress Right, to be ridden by Perry Compton, drew post 6 while Confident Consumer has the rail.

My Hobby, trained by Larry Staroscik, may rate the slight edge as she turns back in distance from a trio of one-mile outings against males in stakes competition. Her local efforts were a second in the State Fair Breeders' Special and most recently a third in the State Fair Derby on June 25. Armando Martinez will ride from post 3.
