Lincoln track report

R.D. Williams took command of the rider standings and has all but assured himself of a second straight title at the Nebraska State Fair Park at Lincoln after winning six races on last Friday night's card.

Williams opened the show Friday by winning the early double aboard Storm'n Mercedes ($4.60) and Lady Two Socks ($4.20). He followed by scoring back-to-back wins aboard Intervene ($5) and Harvey Bengal ($12) in the fifth and sixth races, then closed the nine-race card with a sweep of the late double aboard Big Boy Jesse ($5.20) and Ten Cent Dance ($5.40). Williams scored a riding triple Saturday, then was shut out Sunday.

Williams, who has 3,894 career wins, holds a 53-35 edge over Yuri Yaranga in the meet standings.

David Anderson leads the trainer standings with an 18-13 edge over Don Strode. Milton Gaede and David Grimes are tied with 12 wins each.

* The racing scene next weekend will shift to Omaha, where the $40,000 Queens Handicap and the $100,000 Omaha Stakes each drew more than 40 nominations. Lord of the Game, winner of the Grade 2 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap last out, heads the list of nominations for the one-mile Omaha Stakes.
