Lincoln: Touchonemore the standout

Email

Unstarted 2-year-olds have a way of making their trainers confident, but so do good-sized purses. One of these reasons might explain why a field of nine will line up for Sunday's $20,000-added State Fair Futurity at Lincoln, even though only one maiden race has attracted enough entrants to be run at this meet. Five of the Futurity's entrants will be making their first career start, while the other four faced each other in a June 17 maiden race here.

Touchonemore, a most impressive winner of that maiden race, heads this 4 1/2-furlong dash and is the obvious pick off his dominating win. A son of Mocha Express trained by David Anderson, Touchonemore shot to the front over a good track that day, opened a big advantage, and was roused mildly through the lane to win by 6 3/4 lengths under R.D. Williams. The pair will team up again from post 6.

Bumper Bob, owned and trained by Bob Rising, was the favorite in Touchonemore's maiden race but lacked a closing bid while third that day. He should show improvement and could be the one to seal a solid exacta play. Yuri Yaranga will ride from post 9.

Trainer Brian Roberts sends out a pair of fillies in the Shady Bend Thoroughbreds-owned entry of Bali Dancer and Hip Hop Heaven, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in their career debuts.
