Lincoln State Fair: Winners' reunion

LINCOLN, Neb. - Herb Riecken's coupled entry of High Dice and Buzz Bar headlines Sunday's $12,500 State Fair Board Handicap at a mile and 70 yards at State Fair Park.

Formerly run as the Executive Board Handicap, the Fair Board Handicap drew a field of seven that includes three past winners of the race. Buzz Bar won it in 1998, Doug's Shadow in 2000, and High Dice in 2001. The race did not fill in 1999 and 2002.

High Dice is the 121-pound highweight this time and can expect a solid pace to set up his run, with Flying Brian, Endless Thunder, and Iowa invader Luke and Jake in the field. Dan Beck has the mount from post 5.

An 8-year-old Lytrump gelding, High Dice took the Big Red Mile Handicap here in late May and will be returning to his most comfortable distance Sunday after most recently finishing third to his entrymate, Buzz Bar, in the six-furlong President's Cup Handicap. The Riecken entry will likely be an odds-on favorite.

Luke and Jake, a recent claim by Traci Vickers, has done well against $10,000 claimers in Louisiana. He was haltered by Vickers for $5,000 off a front-running win. Dennis Collins rides from post 7.
