Lincoln State Fair track report

LINCOLN, Neb. - Leading rider Jerry Carkeek collected his fifth four-win day of the Lincoln State Fair meet last Saturday evening, sweeping the final four races on the nine-race card.

Saturday's card proved difficult for the betting public with just one favorite winning in the first five races. Carkeek altered that pattern starting in the sixth. The remainder of his mounts also were sent off favored and all won: Duncan Miss ($5), Lucy Does the Hula ($4.80), Rancho Gal ($3.80), and Joey's Glitter ($8.20). The all-Carkeek late pick four returned $95.40; the pick three returned $41.40, and the late double was worth $17.80.

Carkeek continues to lead the way in the rider standings with two weeks remaining in the meet. He holds a 47-41 edge over Armando Martinez.

David Anderson has moved off to a 21-14 edge over Marv Johnson in the trainer standings.
