Lincoln: Mr Tire ready to go

Mr Tire may rate a slight edge when an evenly matched field of seven start in the $15,000 Journal Star Stakes for 3-year-olds at Lincoln.

Trained by Bill Conyers, Mr Tire took the 6 1/2-furlong Baxter Stakes at Fonner Park on April 22, defeating his chief rival in this race, My Halo. He came back on eight days' rest to finish third against second-level allowance company and should be ready to a strong effort. Regular rider Dennis Collins will be aboard from post 2.

My Halo was the even-money favorite in the Baxter. Following his usual slow start, he rallied from well back to be beaten 3 3/4 lengths. Trained by David Anderson, My Halo has overcome his starting problems to win an allowance and the Fonner Park Special Stakes this year.

My Halo is part of an Anderson-trained entry with Track Hero. R.D. Williams is named aboard both horses.

Tyron Gleason brings in Manovan from Prairie Meadows. Manovan, who makes his second start of the year Sunday, was a 6 1/2-length winner of his maiden last year, then returned to take the KTA Futurity at The Woodlands by 12 1/2 lengths. Armando Martinez has the ride.
