Lincoln: Lovesablumin attempts rebound

Lovesablumin seeks to return to her winning ways when she heads a field of eight in the $20,000-added Breeders' Special for Nebraska-bred 3-year-old fillies at Lincoln.

Lovesablumin, who is owned, trained and was bred by Terrell Hemmer, won her maiden at first asking this spring at Fonner Park, then returned to win the Fonner Park Special for fillies.

After a game second in the Princess Stakes at Canterbury on opening weekend there, she returned to win a second-level allowance. She came up empty in her last race, finishing seventh after dueling into the stretch in older allowance company, the worst showing of her young career.

She should be favored in this easier spot. Jerry Carkeek will ride.

Trainer Marv Johnson will send out the coupled entry of Real Battleaxe and Saint Bay as a formidable obstacle to the top choice. Saint Bay is coming off a solid allowance win here on July 1, while Real Battleaxe has had a pair of runner-up finishes in allowance company following her maiden win here on May 18. R.D. Williams has been named on both halves of the entry.
