Lincoln: Horse-for-the-course Bach's Homebrew looks tough in Big Red MIle

Email

Bach’s Homebrew puts his perfect record over this track on the line when he heads a full field in the $20,000 Big Red Mile Stakes for older Nebraska-breds on Monday at Lincoln Race Course.

Bach’s Homebrew was 3 for 3 over this track last year as a 3-year-old, sweeping the Journal Star, Lincoln Breeders’ Special, and Lincoln Derby for trainer Larry Staroscik. He returned in fine fashion this year with a victory in the Ogataul Stakes at Fonner Park on March 26, then was fourth against stakes caliber-company in an open allowance there on May 1.

Staroscik will also send out Bingosablumin in this spot. The pair are owned by Don Everett and his Bluestem Farm but will be uncoupled in the wagering to allow superfecta betting on the race. Bingosablumin faced his stablemate numerous times last year, finishing second or third to Bach’s Homebrew during his four-race win streak. Bingosablumin has been second twice in three starts against second-level allowance company and could work his way into the exotics.

Leading trainer Chuck Turco also sends out an uncoupled entry in From the Ashes and Buffalo Creek Hawk. From the Ashes has not been worse than third in three starts this year, which include a win against $20,000 claiming company at Fonner Park in March. He was second in this race last year. Buffalo Creek Hawk has a pair of wins and a pair of seconds from his four starts this year and will be making his first attempt at a mile.
