Lincoln: Death Trappe returns

Email

Death Trappe returns from California and Thundering Verzy makes his first start since early April when a field of nine goes in the $20,000-added Big Red Mile Handicap.

Death Trappe, trained by Tom Garry, led the field to the stretch in this race last year before he was caught in the final sixteenth. Last season, he won two stakes in Nebraska, then went unraced until this spring. He has shown speed in his two starts this year at Hollywood Park, against $28,000 and $40,000 claiming company. Armando Martinez has the ride from post 1.

Thundering Verzy won the Ogataul Handicap against statebreds at Fonner Park in March, then was third in the Budweiser-Tondi Handicap against older company in his last out April 9. Trained by Dan Coughlin, Thundering Verzy will have Curtis Kimes aboard when he breaks from post 3.

High Dice, who won this race in 2003, hadn't raced since September 2003 when he made his season debut here May 15, finishing a closing third against allowance company. High Dice will be ridden by Dan Beck from post 9 and will be coupled in the wagering with Cassanova Kid.

Andy Johnson also sends out a coupled entry of What About David and High Tech Racing. What About David captured a six-furlong allowance race here May 15 and will be fully tested to stretch his speed out over the mile distance. R.D. Williams has the ride from post 6.
